About Whogivesacrap
First of all, it’s fun. There’s plenty of room for our favorite toilet jokes. But actually, we love toilet paper. Because for us, toilet paper is a different approach. We started Who Gives A Crap when we learned that 2.4 billion people don’t have access to a toilet (currently 2 billion, hopefully that will improve!). This means that approximately 40% of the world’s population and approximately 289,000 children under 5 years of age die each year from diarrheal diseases caused by poor water and sanitation. This equates to approximately 800 children per day, or 1 child every 2 minutes.
I think this is terrible. That’s why in October 2012, Simon, Jehan and Danny launched Who Gives A Crap during an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign. Simon sat in the toilet of our draft warehouse until he had enough pre-orders placed to start production. 50 hours later, after hitting bottom, over $50,000 raised (Watch this video!)
We delivered our first product in October 2013 and are excited to continue growing since then. Our toilet paper not only adorns toilet paper across the country, we also donate 50% of our proceeds to construction and sanitation in developing countries.
We are still growing. We want to stay true to toilet humor and our roots and make the world a better place with more than just toilet paper.
